Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has reportedly been encouraged to challenge Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency, according to The Guardian.
Wenger currently serves as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development.
The Frenchman has emerged as a possible contender as opposition to Infantino’s leadership of world football’s governing body continues to grow.
However, Wenger has yet to declare whether he intends to enter the race, leaving uncertainty over his potential candidacy.
Despite the uncertainty, he is reportedly facing pressure from individuals seeking an alternative to Infantino’s leadership.
Wenger left Arsenal in 2018 but chose not to return to club management, instead taking up a role with FIFA.
