We’re big enough for coalition – PDP Senate Caucus to Atiku, El-Rufai, Peter Obi, others

According to the Senate Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party is large enough to accommodate anyone looking for a platform for an opposition coalition.

The statement was made by the Caucus in response to the fact that Atiku Abubakar, the party’s previous presidential candidate, is spearheading the effort to establish an opposition coalition.

According to reports, the alliance is presently vying for membership in a political party, however it has reportedly chosen the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

There are hints that the internal strife within the PDP leadership prompted Atiku to decide to establish the coalition.

When the alliance is revealed, it will try to make sure President Bola Tinubu’s attempt to be reelected fails.

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai confirmed this yesterday, stating that Tinubu would return to Lagos State in 2027 as a member of the coalition.

Abba Moro, the senator from Benue South and Senate Minority Leader, asserted that the PDP ought to lead the coalition.

Speaking in Abuja, Moro stated: “As the biggest of all the opposition parties, the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate all persons desirous of coalition.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, therefore, should drive the coalition if and when it becomes necessary.”

Additionally, the caucus denied reports that the PDP is failing, stating that internal conflicts are not unique to any one party.

“The current conflicts in the PDP are not different from what other parties like the APC, Labour Party and NNPP are facing,” Moro said.

The senators, who expressed optimism that the PDP will emerge stronger and more competitive, advised party members to maintain their resolve.
