Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has issued a warning to Manchester United ahead of their upcoming UEFA Europa League semi-final encounter.
Williams expressed confidence in his team, stating that they are performing exceptionally well and will maintain their momentum as they aim for a spot in the Europa League final.
The Spain international played a key role in Athletic Bilbao’s 2-0 victory over Rangers on Thursday, scoring one of the goals to help secure their place in the semi-finals.
Bilbao will now face Manchester United, who advanced after defeating French Ligue 1 club Lyon.
“Every kid wants to play at Old Trafford. We have the goal of winning the Europa League and, next year, to crush the Champions League. Little by little,” Williams told Spanish publication AS.
“I think our motto of going ‘on the down low’ is the best. We are doing very well, and we need to continue like this to reach the final to continue this streak to help the team. The team is extraordinary.
“We are going to celebrate this victory. San Mamés deserves it more than anyone.
“We are doing very well to reach the semifinal we want. One more step before the final, and hopefully we can get there.”
The Europa League semi-final fixtures will take place in May.
