Residents of Samburu County’s Seren village are in shock and indignation following the vicious assault of a woman in what they perceive to be a failed love triangle.

After accusing her of interfering in his marriage, the 24-year-old victim, Priscilla Lolonyekie, a mother of one, was attacked in the middle of the night by her male neighbor.

It all began when the man allegedly saw his wife working with Priscilla on a craft project: knitting a beaded belt.

However, he snapped since he didn’t realize the situation and thought the belt was a present for another man.

He broke into Priscilla’s home later that evening, knocked on her door, and then used a wooden club to strike her viciously.

She had severe head injuries and internal bleeding after the beating, which rendered her comatose.

She is still in serious condition after being sent to Samburu County Referral Hospital in Maralal.

Lempiris Lemargas was the suspect, and he left the scene right away. The public is being urged to provide any information regarding his whereabouts, as police have confirmed that a manhunt is in progress.

Human rights organizations and residents of the community are furious about the vicious attack. In addition to his arrest, many are calling for improved safety for women in rural communities, where this kind of assault frequently goes unpunished.

“This is not just a crime of passion — it’s a violation of human dignity,” one activist said. “We want justice.”

The community is calling for responsibility, an end to gender-based violence, and justice that extends beyond arrest while Priscilla battles for her life.
