What a Police ASP did in Niger state is shocking

Shafi’u Bawa, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), is said to have committed suicide in Kontagora Local Government Area, Niger State.

The unfortunate situation happened on Saturday afternoon, when Bawa’s father, Usman Bawa, discovered his son hanging from the ceiling of his room.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the occurrence, stating that the deceased officer’s father reported it around 2:10 p.m.

A statement from the command says in part: “Today, Saturday, 08/02/25, at around 14:10 hours, one Mr Usman Bawa of Rigasa area in Kontagora informed that his son, AP/No 337979, ASP Shafi’u Usman Bawa, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling.

“The lifeless body was taken to the General Hospital, Kontagora, where he was pronounced dead”

His body has been released for his family to do his funeral rites.
