In a touching act of generosity and compassion, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Education-friendly Governor of Abia State, granted an Executive waiver for the employment of Mrs. Akaniro Gethrude Chinyere, the wife of a blind teacher at Ozuitem Secondary School. She has been working pro-bono with her husband at the school and has shown a strong commitment to the educational advancement of the students in her community.

On Sunday, August 3, Sir Kenechukwu Nwosu, the Governor’s Special Advisor on Education (Basic and Secondary), gave Mrs. Chinyere her letter of appointment after the Governor’s kind gesture.

The Governor ordered his Special Adviser, Sir Nwosu, to visit the school and address the issues after the tale of the committed blind teacher and his encouraging wife went viral on social media.

The lives of Mrs. Chinyere and her husband, as well as the Ozuitem residents of Bende LGA and the State’s education system, have been completely changed by the governor’s involvement. More than 5,380 instructors have recently been hired, which has improved the teacher-to-student ratio in many schools, including Ozuitem Secondary School, where more than 350 pupils are being taught.

This action demonstrates His Excellency’s steadfast devotion to the wellbeing of Abians and his never-ending pursuit of enhancing the State’s educational system.

Mrs. Chinyere and her spouse were overcome with emotion as they celebrated her new position and expressed gratitude to the Governor for his generosity.
