On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu announced that he and President Cyril Ramaphosa, who took office recently, will be meeting bilaterally.
According to Tinubu, the economies of the two African nations were the main topic of conversation.
ZINGTIE recalls that the President of Nigeria left Lagos State on Tuesday and traveled to South Africa, where he witnessed President Cyril’s inauguration after Parliament re-elected him on Friday, June 14, 2024.
Soon after the inauguration, a video footage that showed Tinubu being passed over by his South African counterpart went viral on social media.
But Tinubu refuted the report in a tweet on his official X Twitter on Thursday, stating that President Cyril greeted him with open arms.
As per his statement, “President Ramaphosa’s warm welcome and dedication to mutual respect and cooperation reflects the depth of our relationship”.
On the bilateral meeting held by both presidents, Tinubu revealed that discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and enhancing the economic ties between Nigeria and South Africa.
“We intend to work together to address our countries’ challenges through robust trade and economic strategies, and I am hopeful that we can lead our nations towards increased prosperity and unity.
“Looking forward to collaborating at this crucial juncture for the progress of our continent”, he said.
