Yiaga Africa has expressed concern over the low voter turnout recorded in the Ekiti governorship election held on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The election monitoring organisation stated that its preliminary findings indicate that turnout for the poll ranged between 34.0% and 38.1%, based on data collected from polling units using the Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) observation methodology.
According to Yiaga Africa, “If INEC’s official turnout aligns with WTV’s estimated range, it accurately reflects the turnout of voters at polling units. These estimates are derived from reports from 246 to 250 (98%) sampled polling units in Ekiti State.”
The organisation further explained that it deployed the Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) system and stationed 250 observers, alongside 22 mobile observers across all 16 local government areas (LGAs), as well as 16 LGA results collation observers throughout the state.
