The Lagos State Government has received pharmacological support from the World Health Organisation (WHO) in response to a cholera outbreak that has resulted in 25 cases at the Kirikiri prison.
When providing a report on the cholera outbreak in the state, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner of Health, made this public and said that immediate environmental and medical intervention measures had been successfully put into place.
“We were able to supply Kirikiri Medium Prison with intravenous fluids, infection prevention and other health consumables.
“The WHO has donated 10,000 doses of pharmaceuticals to the prison to support prison health facilities with prevention strategies for about 3,200 inmates if required.”
Remember that two weeks ago, the commissioner said that unrestricted street beverages and contaminated water sources were the outbreak’s primary causes.
