Why British Airways remains grounded at Lagos Airport – Otuyalo

Due to a technical issue, British Airways has temporarily suspended flight operations at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

In a statement in response to the delay, the airline’s Regional Commercial Manager for Nigeria & Ghana, Mrs. Tutu Otuyalo, stated that accommodations had been made for the customers.

This occurs while travellers are left stranded at the international airport in Lagos.

“We will cover accommodation and meal costs for customers. We would never operate a flight unless it is safe to do so. Most of the affected passengers have been re-accommodated to other flights.”

This development arises from BA’s inability to depart Nigeria using Lagos Airport at the appointed time.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 10:50 a.m., British Airlines flight number BA 74 was supposed to take off from Lagos to London due to mechanical issues.
