The Dangote Refinery, a privately-owned refinery, has invested over N720bn in implementing its landmark initiative of deploying 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for the nationwide distribution of petroleum products. This move is expected to save Nigerians over N1.7tn annually and benefit over 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by reducing energy costs and enhancing profitability.

Energy experts have commended the Dangote Refinery’s initiative, saying it will significantly reduce logistical burdens for independent marketers and improve the overall efficiency of the energy sector. According to Chinedu Ukadike, National Publicity Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), “Dangote’s intervention lifts a huge burden off the shoulders of independent marketers.

Bismarck Rewane, Chief Executive of Financial Derivatives Company, praised the initiative, saying it will reduce production costs, ease inflationary pressures, and stimulate economic growth. “What Dangote is doing achieves two key objectives: delivering products across the entire country at a uniform price by eliminating bridging costs and significantly reducing logistics expenses,” he said.
