Why electricity supply dropped nationwide – Power Minister Adelabu explains

Adebayo Adelabu, the minister of power, has revealed the reasons behind the country’s decreased electricity supply.

Adelabu attributed the statewide decline in electricity supply to thermal generating businesses’ gas restrictions.

Bolaji Tunji, the Minister of Power’s special adviser for strategic communication and media relations, revealed this in a statement on Friday.

In order to address the falling supply of electricity, he said, the federal government is trying to ensure that unpaid balances owed to power-producing companies are paid.

“This is mainly due to a decreased gas supply to generation companies.

“This situation has led to a lower level of energy supplied to load centers, affecting the electricity supply to distribution companies.

“This will also enable distribution companies to supply more electricity to Nigerians.

“We acknowledge the unsustainable situation and expect a turnaround immediately.”

According to the ZINGTIE, TCN had blamed gas shortages for the decline in bulk power delivery.

As a result, electricity distribution companies apologized to customers all around the nation for the disruption in power.
