Aides to Governor Bassey Otu have explained why the governor has chosen not to pursue extravagant projects like his immediate predecessor.

Andrea Ekeng Inyang, Chairman of the Forum of Special Assistants, made the clarification in a statement issued as the governor continued commissioning several previously abandoned or incomplete projects left by past administrations.

Speaking during a Stewardship Dinner held in honor of Governor Otu to mark his second anniversary in office, Andrea addressed an audience made up of special assistants and invited guests.

He emphasized that Otu’s administration is not focused on flashy or superficial projects, but rather on completing essential initiatives inherited from prior governments to avoid further waste of public resources.

Andrea noted that the governor has already completed the renovation of over 40 projects, with the majority being ones he took over from previous administrations.

The aides highlighted the poor condition of the state at the time Otu assumed office, saying that within two years, he has brought significant improvements.

One notable achievement mentioned was the launch of Operation Okwok, a community-focused security initiative. According to Andrea, this effort has helped restore public confidence and maintain peace and order across the state.
