Ubi Franklin, a famous Nigerian music executive and talent manager, has explained how he cancelled P-Square’s signing of singer Iyanya.
Franklin clarified that at the turning point in Iyanya’s career, P-Square had indicated interest in signing him but had declined.
He made this statement in his very popular conversation with Adesope Olajide on the Afrobeats podcast.
Franklin recounted the event and said that P-Square’s conduct at the meeting to discuss the record contract wounded his pride.
“Paul, Peter, and their manager, Jude Okoye, asked me to wait outside and went in with Iyanya,” he remarked after arriving at their home.
“I was boiling outside. Iyanya would have gotten that deal with P-Square, but the fact that they said I should wait outside bruised my ego.
“I said to them, ‘You know what, even if I was offered $50 million, I would reject the deal.’ Guess what, Eldee’s deal was actually better than theirs.”
