Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavin Records and a top music entrepreneur, has disclosed that he forbids his artists from releasing singles or albums on the same day as Asake or Wizkid.

Jazzy claimed that releasing songs on the same day as the pair was suicidal in a podcast conversation with Fisayo Fosudo.

Among the most successful Nigerian musicians in the streaming era are Wizkid and Asake.

Don Jazzy said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].

“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”

Stars such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, Lifesize Teddy, and Magixx are signed to Mavin Records.
