After assaulting a man at a gym in Katowice, Poland, a 21-year-old Nigerian was freed without serving any jail time.
In February 2025, Princewill Dominic, a Nigerian, attacked the victim, who was 23 years old, with a 20-kilogram exercise hammer.

Police soon got on scene and detained a “very agitated and aggressive” Dominic, the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice stated, as cited by the Dziennik Zachodni news portal.

According to reports, it took six police officers to apprehend the Nigerian man, and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

According to sources, “the Katowice Poludnie District Prosecutor’s Office “decided to discontinue the investigation” into Dominic for attempted murder.

The man who was attacked managed to avoid the strike from Dominic’s hammer, which caused him to sustain an upper back injury and have “disruption of his health for less than seven days.”

After three months of incarceration, the Nigerian guy was freed.

Since “he committed the alleged act when he was incapable of recognizing the meaning of the act and directing his actions (…) due to the complete abolition of his sanity at the time of the act,” the prosecutor’s report concludes that no crime was committed.

According to the court, the individual was legally crazy due to his drug use, thus he cannot be charged for his crimes.
