Rita Daniels, the mother of actress Regina Daniels, was not elected president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
In an election held on Saturday at the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State, Rita was not elected to the post.
Actor Abubakar Yakubu, the AGN National Secretary, defeated her and took Emeka Rollas’ place as the Guild’s President.
Rita received 113 votes, but Yakubu received 116, with three votes being ruled invalid.
With his win, Yakubu becomes the first actor from the North to head AGN since its founding in the 1990s.
This occurred a few weeks after Emeka Rollas, who asserted that Regina Daniels requires assistance, counseled Rita to put her daughter’s welfare ahead of running for the AGN.
