According to Professor Obi, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) allocated a quota of 10 slots for the programme, but 60 students were admitted. She stated, “I want to really appeal to the students and to parents because I have read somewhere that students are getting depressed, and some of them are threatening suicide.
The VC apologised to the affected students and pledged to resolve the issue with MDCN. She added, “We will see how, together, with MDCN, we can resolve the problem.”

Professor Obi indicted some officials, including the provost, dean, and admission officers, for the overadmission. She said, “We are going to invoke the university’s internal mechanism to handle that, and we have to query some people. Definitely, there will be consequences.”
The university management is taking steps to address the issue and ensure that those responsible are held accountable
