The crisis involving Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Oyo State governor Engineer Seyi Makinde has escalated into a new phase.

Wike and Makinde have been in conflict over who has control of the core of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The crisis between the duo has resulted in the party becoming factionalised at both the federal and state levels.

According to our correspondent, the crisis escalated when Seun Onifade, the chairman of Ibadan North local government area, dismissed several individuals loyal to Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, a former deputy governor of the state.

Gbolarumi is among the leaders of the faction in the state led by Wike.

The former deputy governor was recently seen at a meeting organized by the Wike-led faction of PDP in Abuja.

Consequently, Onifade, who is acting as Chairman in the Makinde administration, decided to dismiss those loyal to the former deputy governor.

The loyalists of Gbolarumi, who were dismissed by the chairman of the local government, include Mr. Olaniyi Stephen, the Assistant Secretary II in Ibadan North Local Government; Hon. Sakiru Oladele, the Supervisory Councilor for Ward 1; and Hon. Latifat Latifu, the Supervisory Councilor for Ward 12.

In the letter directed to Olaniyi Stephen, one of those dismissed, Onifade stated that the letter is effective immediately.

In a letter that ZINGTIE acquired on Friday morning, Onifade advised the dismissed official against continuing to present himself as a council official.

He said, “I wish to refer to the above subject and inform you that your appointment as Assistant Secretary in Ibadan North Local Government has been terminated with immediate effect.

“You are enjoined henceforth to desist from parading yourself as Assistant Secretary in the Local Government.”
