Wike vs Fubara: Rivers youths hold heavy protest (Video)

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has received advice from certain young people not to recall the commissioners who left their positions in his government.

Additionally, they cautioned the governor against resubmitting the 2024 budget to the Assembly.

The young people, who staged a massive protest in Port Harcourt on Friday, threatened to take over the Government House if the governor disregarded their warning.

According to Zingtie, on Monday night, Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, decided to end the state’s political unrest.

An agreement was achieved after a meeting between the two opposing factions and President Bola Tinubu and other relevant parties.

However, political observers and analysts contend that the deal mediated by the President is biased in favor of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Wike.

The Rivers youths called on Fubara to renounce the pact during their protest on Friday in Port Harcourt.

“We’re calling on the governor not to recall any Commissioner. Any attempt to recall any Commissioner, we’ll occupy the Government House,” the protesting youths hammered.

“Nyesom Wike did not vote for Sim alone. We also voted for Sim. We’ll not allow anybody, anybody all to truncate the will of Rivers people.

“So we’re calling on the Governor, don’t be under any pressure from anybody. We want to call on the Governor, don’t return the budget to the Assembly.

“The Rivers State House of Assembly has only one Speaker recognised by the law which is Edison Ehie. And as such, the seats of the 27 lawmakers are vacant. We want to call on the Governor, we voted for you and you must listen to us, Tinubu is not from Rivers State,” a leader of the protesting youths said.
