Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ridiculed former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, over his recent remarks expressing regret for backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the past.
Olayinka took a swipe at Melaye, likening him to someone who was once blind and likening his political choices to climbing trees without direction. He also pointed out that Melaye did not even cast a vote in the gubernatorial election in which he was a candidate.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart said: “I regret supporting APC, I was blind then, now I can see.”
Melaye, who originally joined the APC in 2015, later returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the lead-up to the 2019 elections after prolonged friction with then-Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
Despite his return to the PDP, Melaye has continued to criticize the ruling APC, maintaining that the country is facing serious challenges under its leadership.
Responding, Olayinka posted on X: “Dino Melaye ”I regret supporting APC, I was blind then, now I can see”
“ME: Good morning this evening FORMER BLIND MAN Dino Melaye, the TREE CLIMBER.
“But was it the blindness that made you not to vote in your own governorship election? Abi how person go dey house dey do Social Media contents and not vote on the day of his own election?”
