Doug Witcher, a North Carolina insurance industry executive, has awarded nearly $50 million in grants across the state through his family foundation over the past year. Established in 2022, the Witcher Family Foundation has focused on supporting nonprofits in the High Point-Jamestown area.

Some notable grants include $20 million to Witcher’s alma mater, High Point University; $2 million to the Women’s Centre at Atrium Wake Forest’s High Point hospital; $1 million to the High Point Police Foundation; and $1 million to the United Way of Greater High Point.
Witcher expressed his philanthropic mission, stating, “I wake up every morning, and it’s all crystal clear, right there in front of me. Here is my purpose in life, God’s plan for me, I think. I’m supposed to give away all this money to good causes. And so that’s what I’m doing
