After divorcing her first husband, Baba married Dzuma three years ago, according to a local.

In the horrifying incident that has left the community in shock, Fatima Dzuma, a resident of Lafiyagi Dzwafu village in the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State, is suspected of killing her husband, Baba.

After divorcing her first husband, Baba married Dzuma three years ago, according to a local. Dzuma had one child from her previous marriage, but she didn’t have any with Baba.

In the meantime, Baba’s first wife just gave birth, and the naming ceremony is currently being planned.

According to reports, Dzuma admitted to killing her spouse because she “no longer liked him.”

While he was asleep, she allegedly hit him twice on the head and once on the hand with a pestle, fracturing his hand, and strangled him with a shawl.

Dzuma killed him, dragged his body to the backyard, covered it with a mat, and cleaned up the area. Despite Baba’s family’s desperate search, she denied knowing his whereabouts for three days.

But Dzuma later acknowledged, “I acted alone.”

She is presently being held by the police, begging for forgiveness and saying, “The devil made me do it.”

Investigations are still on, according to the police, who have confirmed the arrest.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the claim to SaharaReporters, stating that on December 31, 2024, the body of 25-year-old Baba Aliyu was found dead in a bush near Katcha, Niger State.

The police arrived on the scene quickly, with officers from Katcha Division leading the charge.

Police also disclosed that during a violent altercation, Dzuma, 27, confessed to killing him. Fatima clarified that after her husband had battered her during the fight, she killed him by striking him on the head with a pestle when he was sleeping.

In order to conceal the crime, Dzuma then wrapped the body in a mat, bound it with clothing and rope, and threw it in the jungle.

Bida General Hospital received the body for post-mortem analysis. After being taken into custody, Fatima is presently awaiting transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for additional examination and legal action.
