If her husband doesn’t pay for her hospital bills during delivery, a Nigerian mother has pledged to put solely her name on her child’s birth certificate.

In a Facebook post, she made this claim, which sparked intense online debate.

She stated her intentions in the post before making any preparations to become a parent, saying, “If I carry belle and pay the hospital bill, the birth certificate no fit carry the man’s name. I’ll put only my name there.”

She continued, “Ican’t even imagine a woman carrying a pregnancy, going through labor, and then paying her hospital bill after childbirth. As how? Wetin be the man’s job? Ewwww. God forbid.”

In order to strengthen her claim, the woman emphasized the hardships of pregnancy and the agony of delivery, indicating that if her husband was unable to pay for the necessary medical care, she would decide to have just her name listed on the birth certificate.

“I go suffer for pregnancy from one to nine months, suffer labor pain or CS, still pay for my own hospital bill. Na ment be that one??”

Her message immediately became well-known, and a large number of people flooded the comment section with their opinions.
