‘Won’t you plan succession’ – Sowunmi reveals conversation with Tinubu

Segun Sowunmi, a former governorship candidate for Ogun State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claims he has instructed President Bola Tinubu to begin succession planning.

On Monday, Sowunmi met Tinubu at his home in Lagos.

He chastised individuals who were questioning and criticizing his visit to the President during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday night.

Additionally, Sowunmi insisted that he never spoke of appointments and that President Tinubu never made any offers to him.

“I did not discuss the possibility of any appointment with president Tinubu, he did not offer me any appointment,” he said.

“That’s not the kind of conversation I should be having with [the President]. The type of conversation between me and the President before he was president and now that he is president…the type of conversation…, okay for instance I said to him, ‘if I conceive this thing you’re doing is hard work and I know it’s hard work, are you not going to start planning succession?

“Won’t you plan succession? Won’t this country think on how to move to younger people.”

The former spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar continued, saying, “My political course is not just opposition. I’ve been down loyal to the PDP. Nobody should have any idea that I’ve been part of any other people doing opposition for opposition’s sake, I’m not part of such.

“I wonder where we took an oath that I have to take permission from them before leaving the party.

“I greeted the President, took a picture and they’re going gaga. I’m not going to fall for that cheap madness.”
