The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has applauded the unwavering strength, commitment, and professionalism displayed by the state’s workforce, particularly in the face of ongoing political and democratic turmoil.
Delivering a message in solidarity for Workers’ Day 2025, Governor Fubara commended employees across the state, calling their dedication “the backbone of the state’s development and beacon of hope for a better future.”
The message, released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, highlighted the theme of this year’s Workers’ Day: “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate.” The governor said the theme underscores the urgent need to protect workers amid rising environmental challenges and growing socio-political instability.
He underlined that maintaining a safe and healthy working environment is fundamental to achieving sustainable development goals.
Governor Fubara also recognized the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for advancing labour policies and environmentally responsible strategies that contribute to a safer workplace nationwide.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rivers State workers who, despite ongoing political unrest and leadership struggles, have shown remarkable loyalty, honesty, and commitment in fulfilling their responsibilities.
According to him, the perseverance and dedication of the workforce are vital to the state’s resilience and ongoing advancement.
Reiterating his administration’s strong support for the well-being of workers, Fubara called on employers across both public and private sectors to adhere strictly to labour laws while ensuring that workers’ rights and human dignity are upheld.
