The IMPACT Project, funded by the World Bank, aims to improve healthcare outcomes in Cross River State by reducing maternal mortality, malaria, neonatal mortality, infant mortality, and mortality rates among children under five.

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu commended the World Bank’s contributions to the state’s healthcare sector while receiving equipment for the project at his office in Calabar.

Governor Otu stated that the IMPACT Project will build on the successes achieved through the state’s partnership with the World Bank. “Healthcare remains a top priority for our administration,” he emphasized. “We recognize that good health is essential for the well-being and prosperity of our citizens.”

To enhance health information management, the state has procured 196 laptops for health records personnel across primary healthcare centers in the state’s 196 wards.

Governor Otu assured that his administration will continue to support initiatives that improve healthcare outcomes. “We have allocated over N5 billion in our 2025 budget to upgrade our primary healthcare facilities,” he disclosed. “We are also working to introduce a health insurance scheme that will make healthcare more accessible and affordable for our citizens.”

The governor urged stakeholders to ensure that the laptops and other equipment provided are utilized effectively. “We want to ensure that our healthcare system is inclusive and effective,” he said. “We will work with local government chairmen, ward councilors, and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.
