Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has charged that party members who switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) had committed the “worst political sin.”
Kwankwaso said that their choice to join the APC constituted a betrayal of the Kwankwasiyya cause.
Speaking on Friday in Kano State, he welcomed his Takai Local Government supporters who had declined to join the APC.
Recall that certain federal lawmakers from Kano State, including Senator Abdulrahman Kawu of Kano South, recently defected to the APC.
Kwankwaso, however, charged that the defectors chose to join a party that doesn’t care about the general populace.
“But those who won the election among us decided to abandon the masses and join those who do not have the masses at heart but are only after what they will get for themselves and their families.
“There is no worse political sin than leaving the party that gave you the opportunity and support but later you abandoned the party. This is the highest level of betrayal,” Kwankwaso said.
