Former senator and one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Sadiq Yaradua, has officially parted ways with the ruling party.

His resignation was made public through a letter addressed to the ward chairman of Wakilin Gabas II in Katsina Local Government Area.

In the letter, Yaradua criticized the APC for straying from its founding goals and failing to serve the Nigerian populace as initially promised.

“I can no longer remain in a party that has completely abandoned its foundational principles and objectives of being a servant of our teeming talakawa (masses),” he wrote.

Yaradua, who was involved in establishing the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), accused the APC administration of worsening the country’s security situation and implementing harmful economic policies.

“I cannot remain in a party or support a government that unashamedly watches its citizens being maimed, assaulted, and killed while it remains unconcerned,” he said.

“I cannot support a party whose elected government imposes destructive economic policies that destroy the lives and welfare of our people.”

He also described current APC leadership as “bandits in government” and vowed to support democratic efforts to unseat the party.

Yaradua concluded by urging his supporters to follow him into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as a political platform that represents the interests of all Nigerians.
