Sunday Dare, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, has slammed his political opponents, claiming that they are unnecessarily “heating up the polity”.
While the President’s political opponents were gone in Tanzania seeking solutions to Nigeria’s energy problems, he described them as “wannabes” who showered hatred on Tinubu.
The presidential assistant, on the other hand, stated that Tinubu is unconcerned and will only entertain discussions about how to enhance the lives of Nigerian citizens, as well as constructive dialogue about establishing a resilient economy.
His outburst comes just days after former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and other opposition figures publicly lambasted Tinubu’s administration.
El-Rufai also chastised the All Progressives Congress, or APC, for abandoning its core values and cultivating ineffective leadership.
“I no longer recognise the APC. No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show; it’s a zero-man show,” El-Rufai said.
The former governor attacked the quality of leadership arising from political parties, blaming it on inexperienced delegates.
“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”
While discussing on how to depose a sitting president, Amaechi was cited as saying that Tinubu and the political elite would not give up power without a battle.
Dare responded with a post on his X handle on Monday, telling Tinubu’s political opponents to wait until the next election to test their popularity.
