Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has strongly criticized ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi over their recent remarks directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing them of acting out of political self-interest and lacking sincerity.

Nasir El-Rufai had recently voiced concerns about Nigeria’s current governance at Rotimi Amaechi’s 60th birthday lecture, where he claimed the nation had fallen into the hands of “urban bandits.”

Reacting to their comments during a press briefing in Kaduna, Shehu Sani took aim at both former governors, arguing that they are in no position to criticize the present administration, having failed to effectively tackle similar problems during their own time in office.

He added that, “El-Rufai and Amaechi should bow their heads in shame.

“They are the architects of the banditry, poverty, and hunger they now pretend to lament. During their tenure, they did nothing to solve these issues, and now they cry foul simply because they have been left out of the current government.”

He further dismissed their comments as self-serving and insincere.

He, however, maintained that there is nothing wrong with criticizing a government. “But when such criticism stems from personal disappointment over missed appointments rather than genuine concern for the people, it becomes dangerous,” he said.
