The Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), led by Major General AB Abubakar, has reiterated that the welfare of troops remains a key focus of the Military High Command.
This was made known in a statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters of Theatre Command, OPHK. He noted that the theatre commander delivered this assurance during a field visit to Sector 2’s area of responsibility. The visit included various military units such as Sector 2 Damaturu, 233 Battalion in Damaturu, 159 Battalion Geidam, and Forward Operating Bases in Bukharti, Kanama, Babbangida, and Kukurata. The goal was to enhance morale and combat effectiveness.
According to the statement, the visit provided an opportunity to inspect troop welfare, assess meal provisions, and engage with soldiers directly to resolve urgent concerns.
The commander praised the soldiers for their commitment and bravery, urging them to uphold discipline, remain assertive in operations, and continue their offensive efforts to eliminate terrorist threats and restore stability across the North-East.
He also conveyed a message from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, emphasizing that any soldier who demonstrates exceptional performance will receive proper recognition and encouragement.
In addition, the troops were reminded to comply with the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s guidelines regarding social media use and to use official channels to report their issues or concerns.
“As part of the activities during the visit, the TC commissioned new and renovated projects, including Sector 2 Main Repair Group Vehicle Bay. He also visited and toured the Army Logistics Base 3, Level II Field Hospital Damaturu, as well as troops’ deployments, critical combat enablers and other facilities,” the statement said
A major highlight of the visit was the official decoration of Inspector MD Yusuf, who was elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent II of Police. Other key moments included formal briefings, souvenir exchanges, and group photo sessions.
The Theatre Commander was accompanied by Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, the Acting Commander of Sector 2 OPHK, as well as the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, other component and supporting commanders within Sector 2, and senior officers from the Headquarters Theatre Command.
