Zamfara 2027 election: APC chieftain Shinkafi inaugurates group for governorship ambition

Sani Abdulahi Wambam Shinkafi, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, inaugurated the Wambam Shinkafi Democratic Front (WSDF) at his Gusau home on Wednesday, giving a preview of the power struggle that would take place in the state at the upcoming 2027 election.

“There will be no alliance with any group, no compromise. I will continue to stand on my own” said Shinkafi, an APGA candidate for governor of Zamfara State three times, during the inauguration ceremony.

Declaring that the state belongs to everyone, Shinkafi declared that he would not be intimidated by anyone in Zamfara politics. He also announced his plan to run for the state’s governorship in 2027.

Noting that his political association has a main committee, a women’s wing, and a youth wing, he reiterated that he still has the goal of becoming governor.

Shinkafi went on to say that the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, would shortly start voter registration, and he encouraged his people to do so in order to alter the system.

“APC in Zamfara State is not for Senator Abdulaziz Yari or the Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle. Senator Yarima and Yari governed Zamfara State for 16 years, and they are both from Zamfara West Senatorial District.

“Zamfara North governed the state for only four years—former Governor Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi ruled for just one term. Zamfara West should allow other zones to complete their own tenures.

“I have never been afraid of any politician in Nigeria, and I never will be. I respect everyone who respects themselves in politics,” he added.

According to the previous APGA National Secretary, the movement has representatives in every local government area in the state.
