Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized that all nuclear power plants, including Zaporizhzhia, belong to the people of Ukraine.

This statement comes after United States President Donald Trump suggested that the US could take over the management of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants as a form of security guarantee, following a call between Trump and Zelenskyy this week.

At a press conference in Norway, when asked about the Zaporizhzhia power plant, Zelenskyy said: “All nuclear power plants belong to the people of Ukraine.

“These are state-owned nuclear power plants, it is not private property in Ukraine.

“If the Americans want to take the station from the Russians and they want to invest there and modernise it, that is a completely different issue.

“We are open to discuss it, but the issue of property we definitely did not discuss with President Trump.”

Meanwhile, Trump has already spoken with Putin in an attempt to negotiate a peace deal to end the ongoing war.
