2024 budget: Tinubu reveals top priorities

The top priorities of the newly signed N28.7 trillion 2024 national budget have been disclosed by President Bola Tinubu.

Zingtie reports that, just 48 hours after the National Assembly approved the appropriations measure, the President signed the 2024 budget into law on Monday.

According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu listed defence and internal security, job creation, macroeconomic stability, an improved investment environment, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security as priorities during the budget signing ceremony at Aso Rock Villa.

The appropriation bill’s main estimates include N1.7 trillion for statutory transfers, N8.8 trillion for recurrent expenses, N10.2 trillion for capital expenditures, and N8.2 trillion for debt servicing.

“All MDAs have been directed to take responsibility and provide monthly budget performance reports to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, which in turn shall ensure the veracity of such,” he stated.
