2024 UTME: JAMB approves 747 CBT centres for registration

For the 2024 UTME examination, which is set to start on Monday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, has accredited 747 Computer Based Test, or CBT, Centres.

The Board announced this in an Abuja bulletin by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor, PAC.

Only 747 of the 907 CBT centres the Board had shortlisted for accreditation could be certified for the 2024 UTME after revalidation and integrity testing.

According to a NAN reporter who saw registration at various centres in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surroundings, candidates were visible in large numbers at the numerous CBT centres visited.

While some candidates who gave their accounts claimed that the registration process went smoothly, others disagreed.

Chinaza Onuegbu, a candidate at the Future Gate CBT centre in One-Man Village, voiced concern about his difficulty registering and claimed he was told, for no apparent reason, to register at another centre.

Onuegbu clarified, however, that he returned after having another thought to ask why he wouldn’t be permitted to register. He was advised to return on Tuesday with his JAMB profile code, which he still hasn’t received.

“I was at the Future Gate to register for my Direct Entry but was not allowed to register. I was told to go to another CBT centre if allowed.

“I moved to another centre within that vicinity but was told to return to the Future Gate to resolve any problem.

“Immediately I got back to Future Gate centre, I met someone who told me to bring my profile code, but I could not produce it because I didn’t understand what it meant.

“I was, however, asked to go home and get my profile code and bring it tomorrow so I can be registered.”
