2027: Gov Alex Otti gives details of his second term bid

According to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, God will decide whether or not he gets re-elected for a second term in office.

Following his endorsement by his Oha Ngwa clan as their only candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election, the governor made this statement at a civic celebration hosted in his honor by the Oha Isiala Ngwa; People of Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas at the Okpuala Ngwa Stadium.

Although he was appreciative of the support, Otti stated that he would wait for divine direction before formally deciding on 2027.

“Just like 2023 was in the hands of God, 2027 will also be in the hands of God. While I appreciate your endorsement, which I understand to be a recognition of the work done so far, I will continue to consult with God, and in due course, I will make my position known,” he said.

In order to increase internally generated money for projects around the state, the governor emphasized the strategic significance of Aba to his administration’s economic development agenda.

“Aba occupies a central place in our development strategy—not just for Abia, but for the South East and South-South. The city’s economic potential is key to our vision for statewide development,” he said.

Speaking about infrastructure, Otti declared that the Mgboko–Ntigha road project is expected to be finished by December and reiterated his dedication to inclusive administration.

Concerns over the Abia Airport project in Nsulu were also addressed by him, who clarified that technical viability—not politics—was the basis for the decision.

He restated that all confirmed landowners impacted by the airport project have received full compensation, and that any cases that remain unresolved are the result of problems with documentation.

In addition, he welcomed officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, who formally announced their support for the Labour Party, as well as new members from other political parties, including former members of the Accord Party and PDP.

In keeping with his dedication to grassroots development, Governor Otti gave the Commissioners for Works and Youth & Sports instructions to start the process of transforming Okpuala Ngwa’s Sam Ihesiulo Stadium into a contemporary sports complex.

Citing accomplishments in governance and infrastructure, lawmakers like as Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Rep. Ginger Onwusibe, and Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu commended the governor’s leadership and urged him to run for a second term.
