2027: Peter Obi has no platform – PDP chieftain, Ulasi

Ahead of the general elections in 2027, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Ulasi, has implied that Mr. Peter Obi, the previous presidential candidate of the Labour Party, does not currently have a political platform.

Ulasi made a statement on Friday while answering questions on the Morning Show on Arise Television.

The PDP leader pointed out that even though any Nigerian citizen is entitled to run for office under the Nigerian Constitution, Obi’s political future is still up in the air because he hasn’t made a clear party affiliation.

He remembered that Obi has not yet established his political foundation for 2027, despite having just been spotted at an African Democratic Congress (ADC) event and running on the Labour Party’s platform in the 2023 elections.

However, the PDP mainstay was hopeful that Obi could contribute if he rejoined the party, claiming that Obi’s national support and credibility would improve any party’s chances in the upcoming general election.

He said: “In terms of the presidency for 2027, I believe Peter Obi so far has no platform.

“To the best of my knowledge, he ran last time with Labor Party. He’s attended the luncheon of what do they call it ADC. So I don’t know what his platform will be.

“I’ll be happy if he joins PDP, because he will bring his credibility to bear on the party as we are reorganizing.

“I mean, he’s not a name you want to introduce in Nigerian politics, any party that has him today, we know that they have already made more than 30, 40% of the election because he has tremendous support across this country”.
