2027: South should unite for Tinubu’s second term — Atiku’s ex-campaign chair

Charles Ogbonnaya, a former chairman of Atiku Abubakar’s Abia State 2023 presidential campaign committee, has called on southern Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu in order to finish the South’s turn before the North regains control in 2031.

To guarantee Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, Ogbonnaya specifically urged the South-East and South-South to work with the South-West in a statement released on Thursday.

According to the former Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, equity and justice required that the South be given the opportunity to serve its entire eight-year term, as the North did under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman voiced worry that, in contrast to the North, the South has frequently failed to present a united front during elections.

“I had once raised the alarm that some of us in the South are allowing ourselves to be manipulated to work against our own interest.

“It is time we see through this and form a common front,” Ogbonnaya said.
