The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded another setback in Kano State following the defection of several of its members to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors, largely made up of young people from Kumbotso Local Government Area, formally joined the NDC during an event held on Sunday.
They were received into the party by the Kano State Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Alhaji Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, alongside Captain Nafe, the party’s candidate for the Kumbotso State House of Assembly seat.
The latest wave of defections is expected to strengthen the NDC’s presence in Kumbotso, with the new members expressing their commitment to the party and its political agenda.
Addressing the gathering, Alhaji Fasaha described the development as evidence of the party’s increasing popularity, particularly among young people.
He assured the defectors that they would enjoy equal opportunities and active participation within the party’s organisational structure.
Captain Nafe also welcomed the new members and urged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing that the NDC remains dedicated to youth empowerment and people-focused representation.
