Peter Obi, the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has clarified that his goal in joining the alliance in front of the 2027 elections is to combat poverty, hunger, and poor governance, not to further his own political aspirations.
In answer to a query on rumors of a purported deal with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to be his vice president in the 2027 elections, Obi made this revelation.
According to the source, Atiku had agreed to serve for only one term and was willing to formalize the agreement in writing.
Obi did neither affirm or deny the existence of such an arrangement while speaking at a gathering hosted by the Anglican Church in Kubwa. Rather, he underlined his dedication to the coalition’s goal.
Obi stated, “You can make the report what you want, but I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, and poverty.”
His comments highlight his preference for social welfare and national growth over political standing.
