Former congressman, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has revealed why former president Goodluck Jonathan should not fight the impending 2027 presidential election.

Speaking as a guest on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television, Sani said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the party Jonathan used to win the election in 2011, is no longer united.

Sani suggested that the former president abandon the plan to run for president in 2027.

The former federal senator emphasized that Jonathan’s decision to run for office is his own, pointing out that his name constantly appears during elections.

“But I advise him not to do that. The reason is very simple: the PDP he used to know is not the PDP now.

“The PDP in the South-West is endorsing the president. Some members of the party are in the coalition. So, it is the party he used to know so he shouldn’t waste his time,” he said.

Recall that Jonathan, who served as former late President Umaru Yar’adua’s vice president for three years prior to his passing, was elected president on the platform of the PDP on May 6, 2010, and he held the office until May 29, 2015.

The former Nigerian leader also ran for president again in 2015, but was defeated by late Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
