Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has said the 2027 presidential contest should feature President Bola Tinubu, Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, candidate Peter Obi and other southern aspirants.
According to the former senator, northern politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, should allow the South to complete its eight-year tenure before seeking to take over the presidency.
In a post on X, Sani acknowledged that the Nigerian Constitution does not provide for presidential rotation between the North and South, but argued that “it is equitable”.
“The 2027 political contest should be between Tinubu, Peter Obi, Sowore, Makinde, Adebayo, Duke and other Southern Candidates. The South should complete its eight years.
