David Emmanuel Ombugadu, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Nasarawa State, has pledged that he and his party will tenaciously defend the people’s mandate and oppose any kind of electoral malpractice.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held at the PDP state secretariat in Lafia, Ombugadu made this commitment while bemoaning what he called pervasive electoral and judicial abuses in the 2023 governorship race, in which he finished second.
“The state is bleeding from electoral injustices. Our people have lost confidence in the electoral process,” he lamented.
According to the former governorship candidate, anonymous people were entering the state on election day with the goal of influencing the polling results.
“We watched people come into Nasarawa State just to engineer electoral fraud under different guises. But enough is enough. We don’t have another state to run to. Come 2027, we will ensure that the people’s victory is not tampered with. Any plot to rig will be firmly resisted. Only the authentic results will be accepted,” he said.
Ombugadu cautioned that the PDP would no longer put up with any meddling meant to weaken the people’s will.
“2027 will be a different game. We will not sit idly by and watch invaders rig our elections under any pretext,” he emphasized.
Ombugadu assured PDP members and supporters throughout the state that justice would be served and urged them to maintain their resolve in the face of what he called “electoral robbery” in 2023.
