No one can stop the people from protesting, according to Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.

Ngelale made the statement in an interview with Femi Akande on Sunday’s Politics TVC program.

Concerns regarding the Tinubu government’s position on the nonviolent protests scheduled for August 1–10 were addressed by the spokesperson.

He emphasised that the goal of the current government is not to “dominate” Nigerians.

Ngelale said, “Let me be clear: we are not in office to dominate our people; we are here to serve them”.

He maintained that no government agency “has the authority” to stop Nigerians from protesting.

“No one in our administration has the authority to deny Nigerians their right to peaceful protest,” Ngelale said.

He did, however, express concern about the protests being hijacked and turned into a 2020 version of the #EndSARS movement.
