Veteran Yoruba actress Yetunde Wunmi has talked about the compromises she had to make to further her profession.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, the 64-year-old stated that she began her career as a stage actor in 1982 with Sunday Akinola’s “Feyi Kogbon” theatrical group.

Speaking about her almost four decades in the film business, Yetunde Wunmi revealed that her love of performing was the reason her marriage failed.

“I cannot forget Adelove. He brought the stage drama to Danjuma film close to where I lived then. He wore all white that day and came with a white car.

“Everybody ran towards him and I also went closer to make sure I touched his clothes. I was very happy. I felt like I touched a gold. That was when I developed interest in theatre.

“I lost my marriage due to my love for this theatre. But I never regretted being an actress since then because God has been gracious to me.”
