The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed that another tanker explosion occurred at a filling station in Dutse metropolis. This incident brings concern for public safety in the area.

The explosion happened on Thursday at Shakkato filling station, located along Kiyawa Road. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the blast, according to a statement issued by the Police Spokesperson, SP Shiisu Adam, on Friday.

Preliminary investigations into the incident revealed that the fire erupted while petroleum products were being transferred from a tanker into an underground storage tank at the filling station.

“Suddenly, the fire ignited and became wild beyond the control of filling station operators, who quickly alerted authorities to curtail the situation,” Adam stated.

The prompt response of the authorities helped prevent further damage. Upon receiving the report, a police team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dutse rushed to the scene to secure the area and manage movement around the site.

Firefighters from Dutse International Airport and the Federal Fire Service in Dutse town also responded swiftly to the emergency. Their efforts helped bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other nearby structures.
