The Taraba State Government has been the target of a public audit and accountability from the Peoples Redemption Party, or PRP.
This appeal was made in a statement released on Sunday by Idris Tantano, the state party’s chairman of the Caretaker Committee.
According to Tantano, Taraba State residents have been suffering from a lack of economic prospects, bad healthcare, and inadequate infrastructure.
He claimed that the current administration has wasted billions of dollars on opulent cars for the wealthy rather than using public funds to draw in investors and generate employment.
“The procurement of JAC Jeeps presents a perfect opportunity for the state to negotiate with investors to establish a car assembly plant.
“This would not only generate revenue but also create thousands of jobs for the youth.
“However, the administration’s short-sightedness and corruption have led to this opportunity being missed.
“As the opposition, we demand that the administration provides a detailed account of how the state’s funds have been utilized,” the statement said.
The Taraba State PRP declared that it will not stand by while the ruling party keeps putting its own interests ahead of the general welfare of the people.
The party claimed that it was time for a change, underlining that it was committed to bringing about a new age of transparency, accountability and prosperity to Taraba State.
It further declared that it would deploy all legal tools to ensure openness and accountability, adding that the people of Taraba State deserve better.
