Chelsea established a new Premier League record on Sunday despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Blues took an early advantage against the reigning champions through Morgan Rogers.

Arsenal, however, responded strongly to secure their third successive league victory of the season, with Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard finding the net.

Rogers’ early goal saw Chelsea become the first team in Premier League history to score within the opening five minutes of each of their first three matches of a season.

Xabi Alonso’s side had previously taken the lead after just one minute through Joao Pedro during their 3-2 victory over Fulham.

Chelsea also scored early in their 4-3 win over Brighton at Stamford Bridge, with Romeo Lavia turning the ball over the line.
