On Presidents’ Day, thousands of Americans demonstrated against President Donald Trump and his government in American streets.

In an effort to oppose a bill that would strengthen federal immigration enforcement, protesters on Monday tried to enter the Arizona Statehouse and chanted slogans like “No kings on Presidents Day” in East Coast cities.

Hundreds of participants in “Not My Presidents Day” protests were recorded in a number of states, including Florida and California.

The 50501 Movement organized the movement, which had as its subject “No Kings,” and it was the second nationwide demonstration in less than two weeks.

Participants in dozens of places were lured to a similar wave of protests on February 5. President Trump and billionaire advisor Elon Musk, who leads the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), were the targets of both incidents.

Despite wind chills in the teens, around 1,000 protesters marched in the snow from Boston’s Statehouse to City Hall, chanting “Elon Musk has got to go” and other catchphrases.

Some demonstrators held signs that read, “This is a Coup,” and “Cowards Bow to Trump, Patriots Stand Up,” while dressed in Revolutionary War garb. Uncle Sam was shown on another banner that read, “I Want You to Resist.”

Emily Manning, a 55-year-old Boston engineer who went to the rally with her teenage sons, said, “I thought it was important to be here on Presidents Day to demonstrate for what America stands for, American values are not the values of the plutocracy or the limited few rich people”

The demonstrations, which were held in major cities like Seattle, Orlando, and Washington, D.C., were organized around what they called the “illegal and anti-democratic actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.”

“Deport Musk, Dethrone Trump” was written on a sign at a sizable gathering in the nation’s capital.

A polar vortex caused extremely chilly conditions in several parts of the country, but protesters were unfazed.

Following recent job losses across federal agencies as part of an effort to reduce the size of the government workforce, the demonstrations were held in reaction to a number of executive orders issued by President Trump. Numerous decisions taken by the administration have already been challenged in court.

In Phoenix, hundreds of demonstrators with signs that read “No Kings” and “Resist Fascism” gathered outside the state capitol. Following some protesters’ attempts to enter the premises, security personnel stopped them.

A state Senate committee hearing on a bill that would mandate that law enforcement officials back federal immigration policy was attended by protesters.

December Archer, who organized the event, emphasized the importance of a nonviolent protest and stepped in when hostilities broke out between demonstrators and security personnel.

“We’re trying to make sure everything stays civil and stays respectable because again, we’re here to make a statement, not be the statement,” she said.

The legislation was finally approved by the state Senate committee in a party-line vote. Senate President Warren Petersen defended the bill by saying, “After the past four years of lawlessness at our border, it is imperative that every level of government supports efforts to safeguard our communities from the harms of illegal immigration.”

”Arizona is a border state, and as such, we need to empower our sworn agents to enforce our laws and assist the Trump Administration’s efforts on this front.”

The bill’s critics contend that it promotes family dissolution, racial profiling, and the waste of public funds. Raquel Terán, a former state lawmaker, told KPHO that these measures are made and proposed in order to politicize a human rights issue. “These types of bills are created and put forth to politicize with an issue of our humanity, that is the last priority of the voters in Arizona.”

Cities like Denver, Dallas, Annapolis, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Miami also hosted demonstrations. In the meantime, West Palm Beach saw counter-protests in favor of President Trump, including a rally outside the Trump International Golf Club.

The 50501 Movement, which stands for “50 protests, 50 states, one day,” is a grassroots initiative that aims to challenge the Trump administration’s policies and actions.
